Providing a
window into vital information, Management Intelligence turns raw data into
actionable information. With an
abundance of programs capable of capturing and storing data, it is clear that
information will be purposeless unless it can be aggregated, organized and
displayed so that management can make clear and informed decisions.
The goal of any
management intelligence tool is to aid the decision making process such that
company goals and objectives can be met, and ultimately, exceeded. The need to better the decision making
process is underscored by the need for better decisions that can be made faster.
But the process
is cyclical: timely decisions can be
made only if feedback is also timely. If
information is not available, decisions either are delayed or are made with
incomplete or inaccurate data. Obviously
the consequences of absent or old information can be dramatic and can result in
the loss of business or a stall in productivity.
To truly enable beneficial management
intelligence, a business must align its technology, people and culture. Each requires its own level of investment,
but all must work in concert to ensure that business intelligence insights are
identified, shared and acted upon by management.
